"Come For The Science Stay For The Nerds"
I have recently completed my Bachelor's degrees in Marine Science (B.S) and Animals Studies (B.A) from Eckerd College. Through my time as a student I have seen a disparity in representation for Black and Brown students in my field. I am determined to be the change I want to see and show that Black marine scientists exist can make an impact on the world. My goal is get my Ph.D in marine ecology while continuing to produce media for marine science and make discoveries along the way through outreach and research.
I am a AAUS certified scientific diver with over 3 years of research laboratory experience. I have a one paper published with one in review and two more in progress. I have experience in R & Python programming languages. Multiple speaking engagements that have showcased my public speaking skills and networking ability. I have extensive experience in audio media production, as I independently ran and produced my own podcast.
When I'm not creating content, diving or collecting parasites in my lab at 4am I enjoy traveling, working out, playing Pokemon, and trying any food I can get my hands on.
Taken during my internship with UCLA's The Diversity Project. I'm Holding a pin-cushion sea star 90 feet beneath the surface.
Having a bit of fun with some litter found at the edge of a reef!
60 feet under, getting great visibility in one of California's most beautiful kelp forests.
Get to know me and my experience as a young scientist pursuing a degree, running a podcast and working to protect the ocean!

Also during my Duke fellowship I discovered multiple new trematode species. They are currently in Texas being analyzed. This project is in conjunction with Chuck Blend (Texas A&M) and Lauren Dykman (University of Victoria)
During my time in Moorea my team and I conducted field surveys on commensal damselfish and are categorizing their behavior in the face of predation (Team consists of myself, Anisa Sellers, Ruth Viveros-Martir and Makai Williams)
